Hoihoi! It’s me, Ruby!
Do you think I’m just jealous because I didn’t watch enough teleseryes in my life?! No bother, I just have been working in consort with Jewelina over the past couple of months.
Anyways, DOBLE KARA?! Hmm… If I were to put it into all of this…

The ABS-CBN melodrama Doble Kara revolves around the life of identical twins named Kara Dela Rosa and Sara Suarez. The first book shows how their lives clash with each other due to love, identity, deceit, ambition, and wealth, only for fate to provocatively force a rift between the two, and the second also chronicles the relationship between the twin sisters and their daughters named Isabella Acosta (or Rebecca Suarez) and Hannah Acosta, as they seek to discover the whereabouts and true identity of Kara’s long-lost daughter.
The approximately three-in-the-afternoon, then 3:15pm drama (part of the afternoon Kapamilya Gold block) stars Royal Princess of Drama Julia Montes as the double role of the two main protagonists of the show, Kara and Sara, together with an ensemble comprising of Carmina Villarroel, Mylene Dizon, Ariel Rivera, Allen Dizon, Sam Milby, Alicia Alonzo, Maxene Magalona, Edgar Allan Guzman, and John Lapus. Emmanuel “Manny” Q. Palo and Jon S. Villarin (and at times, Erick C. Salud, Trina N. Dayrit and Jojo A. Saguin) helms the direction of the program.
But here, the “afternoon monster” of recent times had a big gig to endure. In fact, four dramas faced Julia, only to face defeat, and now a fifth drama takes to the stage. If your going to understand the situation between Julia and the five that faced her in battle, let’s travel back in time, starting in mid-2015.

ROUND 1, The Half Sisters: August 24, 2015, the premiere of Doble Kara. The Half Sisters, topbilled by underrated GMA talents Barbie Forteza and Thea Tolentino, together woven with a unpredictable storyline, were on the air for a year at that time, and have beaten ABS-CBN’s Flordeliza. It was said that All Of Me were to do battle against them, but with Pinoy Big Brother 737 GOLD on the slump, also given an overload for ABS-CBN, it was Julia Montes who’ll face Barbie and Thea, owing her success from Maria Clara, Walang Hanggan, Muling Buksan Ang Puso and Ikaw Lamang for the challenge, times two.
Come the post-premiere, it’s Kantar’s call: DOBLE KARA 16.9% – 15.6% THE HALF SISTERS!
Four to five months later, with The Half Sisters bowing out, what are their current record peaks as of their finale? We don’t know. But in terms of current record peaks starting from The Half Sisters’ premiere: DOBLE KARA 16.9% (recorded on premiere) – 25.6% THE HALF SISTERS (recorded on November 28, 2014).
ROUND 2, (TELESERYE NAME WITHHELD UNDER ORDERS OF BLOG OWNER FOR REASONS STATED BELOW): January 18, 2016. The drama’s name honors an Alden Richards song, and was deemed appropriate for the right time: the AlDub phenomenon. But GMA did not know the current situation at that time, and that the Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali-topbilled drama will not make it.
While on ABS-CBN, Doble Kara’s April wedding episode recorded the highest Kantar rating at that time: 19.3%. Because Wikipedia has no per-episode list (along with the ratings) for that show, this means we don’t know the exact ratings for every episode for that drama when compared against Doble Kara’s.
So who’s responsible for this drama’s downfall? ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime, if not their old friend: the 1950s classic singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan. And Sumire has it all on this piece!

ROUND 3, Hanggang Makita Kang Muli: It was said that there was a programming change that involved Buena Familia. I thought that Magkaibang Mundo was to battle Doble Kara, but I was so confused about the schedule!
Drama-fantasy-horror serial under the usual “hunt for endings” plot aside, during Hanggang Makita Kang Muli’s run, Doble Kara broke the 20% mark as a result of the June 9, 2016 episode, at 20.2%; their best Kantar rating at that time!
Like (TELESERYE NAME WITHHELD UNDER ORDERS OF BLOG OWNER FOR REASONS STATED BELOW), I can’t provide you the specifics because I didn’t find the episode list for that show (as this also means the per-episode ratings as part of those lists).

ROUND 4, Sinungaling Mong Puso: As the Rafael Rosell-Rhian-Kiko-Jazz-topbilled womanizer drama based on a 1992 Maryo J. Delos Reyes film has just ended two days as of this post, what did Doble Kara do during “their” time? Let me guess: another record? They did just that: 21.7% for the September 9, 2016 episode. And there was one problem that resulted to this: NO PROMOTION. And this one trait was not just limited to Magkaibang Mundo, but also to recent GMA Afternoon Prime dramas. Unfortunately, I have no say for the ratings performance of that drama. No need to say it again, just see the above.

And that leads us to round number five: the Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin-topbilled HAHAMAKIN ANG LAHAT. And in my note, IT’S A HALLOWEEN PREMIERE! I’ll just sit the premiere week out; I have to focus not just on Halloween (since it’s also Kuromi-sama’s birthday), but also on All Saints/Souls Day (which I must also put my focus on Hello Kitty’s birthday)!
Can you expect a birthday post for Kuromi-sama and Kitty-chan on this blog?

I would like to clarify on “TELESERYE NAME WITHHELD UNDER ORDERS OF BLOG OWNER FOR REASONS STATED BELOW”; the title of the second drama that faced Doble Kara (actually, I’m also not allowed to blurt it out) contains a “polite word” that the blog owner does not want to say, and that in doing so (to use polite words, even once) would mean that he must blurt out inappropriate or offensive comments on his Twitter account (most of the time he also uses vulgar language), and his sister does not want him to do so because she apparently wants him to change his behavior, for which he (vehemently) does not want to.
I want you to consider him despite his comments. For privacy reasons, I cannot tell you the name of the sister of the blog owner, nor the reason(s) on why he wants to say something inappropriate or offensive (The reason for the former is that because if the blog owner’s sister see this, she might demand him to delete this post, and he does not want to do so as posting such things, especially if it’s inappropriate or offensive, is the only way to keep him mentally calm. The latter is because this could involve something that is ILLEGAL).
Just don’t admonish him for any comment that you could see as inappropriate or offensive, it’s just his thing. Even I, myself, must appreciate such comments, especially if who(m)ever said that is an autistic.
